The Wheel of Time: Books vs. Series
The Wheel of Time is Rafe Judkins's 2021 series, adapted from books by Robert Jordan. It ran for 3 seasons and 24 episodes on Prime Video.

Which books each season covers
Three seasons leave most of the books' story unfinished
The series rearranges events across the books rather than following one novel per season.
| Season | Books adapted |
|---|---|
| 1 | Mainly The Eye of the World, book 1. Moiraine and Siuan's story also draws on New Spring, the prequel, and brings forward scenes from The Great Hunt, book 2. |
| 2 | Combines The Great Hunt, book 2, and parts of The Dragon Reborn, book 3, using book 2 as the main story. |
| 3 | Mainly The Shadow Rising, book 4, with material from The Fires of Heaven, book 5. It also reworks Mat's journey from The Dragon Reborn, book 3. |
| A guide, not an exact match: shows move scenes and storylines between books and seasons. | |
Prime Video canceled the series after season 3 in May 2025.
The remaining story includes substantial parts of The Dragon Reborn, book 3, most of The Fires of Heaven, book 5, and books 6–14, ending with A Memory of Light. Borrowing selected events does not mean those books were adapted in full. Before the cancellation, showrunner Rafe Judkins said he was still saving the Stone of Tear story from book 3 for a later season. New Spring was also used in part, rather than adapted as a separate story.
What changed from the book
Mat goes to Tanchico instead of the Aiel Waste
In The Shadow Rising, Mat travels to the Aiel Waste with Rand. Season 3 sends him to Tanchico with Nynaeve and Elayne instead. The series takes his pursuit of the women from book 3 and uses it in a different journey.
Judkins said keeping Mat with Rand would have left him competing for time with Moiraine, Egwene and Lan. Sending him elsewhere gave him a larger part of his own. It also changed the group around Nynaeve and Elayne after their time together in season 2.

Moiraine and Siuan's romance becomes explicit
The series shows Moiraine and Siuan as lovers who are keeping their relationship secret. Their intimacy has a basis in New Spring, which describes them as pillow friends during their years at the White Tower.
Judkins said the books only hint that the intimate relationship continued into adulthood. The series makes that part explicit. It also moves some of their public disagreements and private cooperation from The Great Hunt into the first season.
