About Books Adapted
The short version: Books Adapted is a record of books that became movies and TV series: the book behind the show, the show behind the book, and where to read and watch both.
What’s here
A page for every book and the movie or series made from it — 310 so far. Each one has the facts about both, a short summary of each, and where to read and where to watch. A book series or a long-running show gets one page for the whole run, as well as a page for each part.
Every page is checked by hand before it goes up, and more are added all the time.
What you can do
- Vote on which was better, whether each is worth your time, how faithful the adaptation is, and which to start with. No account needed.
- Flip through the Shelf, one adaptation at a time, to find what you’ve read, watched, or want to.
- Keep track of what you’ve read and watched, and make lists of your own, with a free account.
- Comment on any adaptation.
Where the facts come from
Facts are gathered from open sources, then checked and corrected by hand:
- Wikidata, for which books became which movies and series, and many of the facts about them.
- Open Library, for book details such as page counts.
- TVmaze, for TV series details, used under the CC BY-SA 4.0 licence.
Book covers, posters and titles belong to their publishers, studios and owners, and are shown to identify the works.
Who makes it
Books Adapted is made by TaterTV LLC, which also makes TaterTV, a TV guide for the streaming era.
