Davy Rice discovers he can teleport during an attack by his father, giving him a way out of the home he has been afraid to leave. Alone in New York, he experiments with his ability while trying to support himself and trace the mother who abandoned him. Finding someone else who can explain what he is would mean attracting attention, a dangerous prospect for a runaway already using his power to break the law.
