Jess has little space for his drawing in a crowded household and little peace from bullies at school. Friendship with the outspoken Leslie gives his imagination somewhere to go: an abandoned treehouse becomes the center of a kingdom they call Terabithia. Their invented battles help Jess face fears that follow him beyond the woods.
